The What

Personal branding, derived from the branding you normally associate with corporations, is the process of defining and promoting what you stand for. This is not unlike how a company defines what it stands for. As of now, this mainly includes what you wear to an interview and generally the first impression you give to those around you, including employers.

That is helpful, but what if the concept of personal branding was taken further? What if a personal brand was designed just as intentionally as a corporation’s brand with the end goal of helping someone get a job?

In this project, I explore that idea. I have created a case study in which I have made three brands for three individuals with varying backgrounds, values, and goals.

I posit that this project will increase the visibility of my participants and help them get noticed by employers as well as reflect their personality and values.

The Why

90%

of executive recruiters
conduct online research

of applicants

70%

have chosen not to
hire someone due to what they’ve found or not found

So why don’t more people present themselves more intentionally, online or otherwise? If having a personal brand is this impactful, it should be implemented more.

That's where this project steps in.
